Re: APPL...Xo

Actually, all you have to do is to have a small one way microwave link. X10 still sells one,
But that is what make Apple's design decision so interesting. Essentially all we need is a sender and a receiver and you can bypass all the HDMI wiring to bring image to the TV wirelessly. Apple choose to build a sender to every IPAD and Iphone and user will buy an Apple TV for every TV they want to show the image. From individual product decision perspective, it may be better off financial for them to just skip putting the senders in all the IPad and Iphone and and if someone want to send image wirelessly, just buy a sender and receiver pair like the PC world. But it would mean that every time I want to put image to the TV, I would have to dig out the sender (receiver is going to be permanently attach to a TV), hook it up and stay in the same place (or carry my mobile device with the sender hanging out there). With the integration in Ipad and Iphone, I can move room to room (assume I have a second Apple TV in a different room) and TV to TV without any problem. The design tie into the router and it use the router signal to broadcast the signal to the receiver. If the router connect to a long range device, you can see the image send to very far away place also.. Now that I have my Apple TV and if I want to get a new tablet, all of a sudden I need to think about whether I need to throw away my Apple TV or not. And that is how they use one Apple device to lock the user in to buy another Apple device. And if you have two or three devices from Apple, it is much easier to just pay Apple the higher price then buying everything else again.
