When you have Southwest Airlines why do you need high speed rail?

Corruption needs to be served.

Its a good question. Certainly a couple of the main reasons are:

- Planes currently use oil products
- Some people won't or don't like to fly
- Trains could service multiple stops, unlike planes that are point to point.

However, on the last point, I will note that the more stops involved, the slower the average time becomes. It is a trade-off that is not insignificant.

Despite rhetoric, the skies have plenty of available capacity. Southwest only flies 737s which have moderate capacity.

In a country where only three people make the decision, they can decide where to put their rail line, get the money, and do it. We don't do it that way in America," he said,
