You wouldnt know a Tree if it fell on ya..your posting history proves that...

Bart is normally pretty good, in this case, he just has not done the work.....and your dropping by to say his opinion wasnt junk, does not bolster the opinions value...because it is nonsense.

here is some work....figure out 15% of this and you'll understand there are differences between saplings and trees.....next explain how any figure, is any more than rumor, when you have no information about what your actually interested in offering opinions about you chose to embrace whatever some dummy might have told ya..

do the work....
the implications are that Tight oil fields will be the lowest cost producers........the hints about why are contained herein.

A quick glance:

Moving to 2560-acre spacing.
One example:
Application of Samson Resources Co. for an order amending the field rules for the Ambrose-Bakken Pool to create and establish five overlapping 2560- acre spacing units comprised of Sections 13, 24, 25 and 36; Sections 14, 23, 26 and 35; and Sections 15, 22, 27 and 34, T.163N., R.99W.; Sections 18, 19, 30 and 31, T.163N., R.98W.; and Sections 6, 7, 18 and 19, T.162N., R.98W., Divide County, ND, authorizing the drilling of a total of not more than 14 wells on each overlapping 2560-acre spacing unit, eliminating any tool error requirements and such other relief as is appropriate.
The standard is now four wells on each 1280-acre spacing unit throughout the Bakken, but it will be eight wells in the better Bakken.
One example (XTO has several similar cases):
Application of XTO Energy Inc. for an order authorizing the drilling, completing and producing of a total of eight wells on an existing 1280-acre spacing unit described as Sections 16 and 21, T.153N., R.99W., Crazy Man Creek-Bakken Pool, Williams County, ND, eliminating any tool error requirements and such other relief as is appropriate.
Another example (BEXP has several similar cases):
Application of Brigham Oil & Gas, L.P. for an order authorizing the drilling, completing and producing of a total of eight wells on each existing 1280-acre spacing unit within the Last Chance-Bakken Pool, Williams and McKenzie Counties, ND, eliminating any tool error requirements and such other relief as is appropriate.
More wells on small spacing units.
One example:
Application of American Eagle Energy Corp. for an order authorizing up to four wells to be drilled on each existing 800-acre standup spacing unit described as Sections 26 and 35; Sections 27 and 34; and Sections 28 and 33, T.164N., R.101W., Divide County, ND, in the Colgan-Bakken Pool, eliminating any tool error requirements, and such other relief as is appropriate.
Another example:
Application of Hess Corp. for an order amending the applicable orders for the Little Knife-Bakken Pool to authorize up to six horizontal wells to be drilled on a 640-acre spacing unit described as Section 28, T.147N., R.97W., Dunn County, ND, eliminating any tool error requirements, and such other relief as is appropriate.
Another example:
Hess Corp. for an order amending the applicable orders for the Bear Creek-Bakken Pool to authorize up to eight horizontal wells to be drilled on a 640-acre spacing unit described as Section 15, T.147N., R.96W., Dunn County, ND.
Some large spacing units.
One example (BR has at least four such cases):
Application of Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co. LP for an order amending the applicable orders for the Clear Creek-Bakken, Blue Buttes- Bakken and Camel Butte-Bakken Pools to establish an overlapping 5120- acre spacing unit consisting of Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, 14, 23 and 24, T.151N., R.96W., McKenzie County, ND, for the purpose of drilling up to two horizontal wells between four existing 1280-acre spacing units and granting such other relief as is appropriate.
Lotsa wells per case.
One example:
Application of Whiting Oil & Gas Corp., for an order amending the applicable orders for the Pleasant Hill-Bakken Pool, to authorize the drilling of up to 6 horizontal wells on eight spacing units described as Sections 4 and 9; Sections 5 and 8; Sections 16 and 21; Sections 17 and 20; Sections 18 and 19; Sections 28 and 33; Sections 29 and 32; and Sections 30 and 31, T.149N., R.99W., McKenzie County, ND, and such other relief as is appropriate.
Total of 21 pages, second day of hearings; only 10 pages, the first day.

more specifically do this work.....
18250, Hess, Little Knife-Bakken, 8 hz wells on a 1280-acre unit; 6 hz wells on a 650-acre unit; Dunn,
18251, Hess, Bear Creek-Bakken, 8 hz wells on a 640-acre unit; Dunn County

lttle hint.....these wells will produce oil for 18 to 25 years....the ABPD should be 130......cost 5.5million declining to 4.mil

little more help, learning curve for this demarcated field by Hess, wells in Little Knife Bakken producing since 10-10
  • 18718, 1,348, Hess/Tracker, Crying Tree 8-1H, s6/10; t10/10; F; cum 95K 10/11
  • 95,000 barrels @ 89.00 $8.4 million well is paid for....
  • 18731, 1,434, Hess/Tracker, Wing 15-1H, s4/10; t7/10; cum 116K 10/11
  • 116,0000 barrels....@89.00....$10,324,000 Beyond Paid for with minimum of 15 years to go..
  • * note the wells cumulatives are only through 10 2011....both wells are hugely profitable at these production rates.

there is a reason why companies are putting more than a billion a month on the line....

    nopoec not withstanding.

He needs to do a lot more research on actual and total costs plus the fast depletion rates, even with multiple fracking on the same well.

I've done much research and am reasonably confident in the $85 current best guess, and am also willing to let him have his opinions.

These also seem to apply in the area, and not necessarily about his views.

"There can be few fields of human endeavor in which history counts for so little as in the world of finance.Past experience, to the extent that it is part of memory at all, is dismissed as the primitive refuge of the those who do not have insight to appreciate the incredible wonders of the present."
    -- John Kenneth Galbraith

"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It is simply too painful to acknowledge - even to ourselves - that we’ve been so credulous."
    -- Carl Sagan

"The propensity to swindle grows parallel with the propensity to speculate during a boom... the implosion of an asset price bubble always leads to the discovery of frauds and swindles"
-- Charles P. Kindleberger, economic historian

$15 to $20 a barrel through the 1990s. At $100 a barrel every man and his dog is getting into energy. At $80 a barrel there is heaps of the stuff. Peak People is looming in 2037. CO2 is not too much worry and might be a net benefit up to 1000 parts per million. So environmental costs are not going to amount to much, if anything. Depreciation of the US$ via dilution has been rapid but not that rapid [not 10 times in 10 years]. Exxon is at near record highs: finance.yahoo.com Price:Earnings of 10. Nearly 3% dividend yield.

It is quite obvious that at $80 a barrel, oil is highly profitable. Therefore, production will continue to increase of oil, gas, coal, tars, methane, peat, wood, insulation, small cars, smaller engines, electric motors, thermally efficient gigawatt power stations. Windmills, photovoltaics, nuclear and other things are still gaining ground.

$40 a barrel in 2012 dollars seems a more likely price than $80 in the long run.
