The rumors are for a 7.85 inch iPad.

That is significantly more screen real estate than a 7 incher.

Feature 1 that won't be matched by Nexus, and an important feature

IF Apple releases it, I think an Apple iPad with all the same features we see in the big ones, but a smaller (high resolution) screen, will sell very well at $299

I feel like we're really saying the same thing, basically, only in a contentious manner. :)

At $299 it's an iPod Touch with 3G/LTE, GPS and a 2x screen. That's a terrific product, IMO. A year from now it'll be $199-$249, at which point it will be an even more terrific product.

But if they do $199 right now, it *has* to contain some tangible feature not in the Nexus, otherwise it's a me-too. So I don't expect them to do a $199....this year.

After extended use, also have to say, Retina is far more benefit on the iPhone than on the iPad. I switch between the 3 iPad generations regularly, and honestly, barely notice the lack of Retina on the two older ones. YMMV, etc.

Unless I've completely misunderstood, seems to me we're on the same page...?
