MOBILE, Alabama -- Police are looking for leads in the bizarre murder of a mother who tried to slow down a speeding car.

Wendy Fisher, 40, was across the street from her home in the Overlook Heights community when witnesses say a car sped down her street. Fisher signaled for the car to slow down, then the driver stopped the vehicle and at least one person got out and started shooting.

The shooting happened in the light of day, around 6:30 pm on Saturday.

Fisher was shot in her chest. She later died at the hospital.

Police have told WKRG they are looking for three or four black men who were riding in a dark green or grey sedan.

“Somebody who is closely related to the person that shot her knows what happen,” said Cpl. Chris Levy, spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department. “Hopefully they'll come forward and tell us what happened.”

A candlelight vigil will be held tomorrow night at 7:30 in Cathedral Square (Dauphin/Clairborne). Organizers are asking everyone to bring their own candle.

Fisher's funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Connect Church in Daphne.
