Japan PM says will use public fund within policy

OTTAWA, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto said on Wednesday that Japan will find a way to use
government funds to help the economy without contradicting its current austere fiscal reform policy.

''I am thinking very seriously about ways to use public funds without contradicting our fiscal reform policy,'' Hashimoto told reporters
after arriving in Ottawa for a state visit to Canada. ''It will be a very close policy call, but we will find a way,'' he said.

Tokyo stocks march higher on BOJ reassurance

TOKYO, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Tokyo stocks marched higher in early Thursday morning trade, helped by a rise in blue-chip issues and
signs of increased confidence in financial stability.

Brokers said jitters had been eased by a joint pledge by the Bank of Japan and Finance Ministry late on Wednesday that they stand
ready to supply sufficient funds to the market in the wake of a string of financial sector failures.

As of 0038 GMT the Nikkei average was up 246.66 points or 1.54 percent at 16,292.21. Nikkei December futures were up 210 at
16,320.
