I am not particularly keen on unions either...some unions and their rules have pissed me off big time. Others have only been mildly annoying.

I am definitely in favor of disallowing campaign contributions from both unions and corporations.

I would agree with getting rid of unions in the US, *IF* I could see a solution that safe guards against the abuses that prop up anytime the unions are absent. I have not seen a good solution yet, so the best solution may in fact be the campaign finance reform.

Incidentally, if you want to know about the positive contributions that unions can make to the bottom line and to the society at large, study the role of unions in Germany. Despite strong unions, Germany is very competitive.
