Actually, in the case of Real Audio I tend to agree with the poster. In buying VXtreme Microsoft got one of the best new video web codecs. And Real Audio has been dreaming all along if they thought their high prices and proprietary format would last. they have to sell to somebody, but who?

Ideal would be Sun/Netscape in my view. They could add this stuff to their servers for greatly increased value, lowering my sensation that they are overpriced. IBM would be another way to go, as would SGI or Oracle. But they need to do it soon.
