>> paying taxes to your country for services rendered is patriotic..

I don't disagree. But it is no one's patriotic duty to pay more than the law requires. This is a fundamental precept of taxation in this country.

I would also point out that our government long ago ceased providing value for the taxes we pay and the debt we've taken on. And this is the tipping point that leads to one place: Tax Revolt.

30 years ago there was a great article in the NY CPA Journal written by a then former chief actuary for SSA. The article went in to great depth explaining how SS was destined to fail, and he was, of course correct. He didn't know at the time, however, that Medicare would bankrupt the country first. But his point was that before 2050 you would need a 40% tax rate on income simply to sustain Social Security. And he closed by raising the specter of tax revolt.

He was absolute correct. Young people today will not pay the taxes that are going to be demanded of them. Not going to happen. Because they will ultimately realize that they are not receiving value for the taxes they pay. And the angry young idiots that elected Barack Obama are going to realize just what idiots they were to support this expansion of government intrusion at a cost that simply isn't tenable. We now have half the people in this country feeding, clothing, educating, buying health care, and even personal transportation for the other half. Half the country can now vote themselves money, and we warned about this condition more than 200 years ago. Tax revolt is coming and it is going to be pretty ugly.
