what better way to spend our $$ than on the health and welfare of its citizens Personally speaking, I think that the people know how to spend their money the best.. What makes you think that the Government, with all of it conflicts of interest, will do a better job? Btw, do you think the income and wages earned by Americans belongs to them, or to the Government? Finally, how effective is the US Government at controlling costs in healthcare? Look at the issues we face with the "Military Industrial Complex" and their cost overruns.. You bitch and moan about military spending, but what prevents you from understanding that there exists a "Healthcare industrial complex" that is just licking it's lips knowing all that new tax revenue is going to be spent on their goods and services..
