"I expected great things out of Obama" So did I. "I have no idea if Romney will be better" I do; worse than Bush. "Obama didn't (dance with those...)" Dems try and compromise;l R's won't. Romney wil sign Ryan, Romney won't veto bills ending EPA or "ending Planned Parenthood" "Obama also promised a new way of governing by working with the republicans." He did, at least thru the tax cut extension; that's part of the problem. Maybe we needed him to promise to work with the Dems. He just doesn't work well with others, period.

Steve, I have no idea if Romney will be better, but I'm looking at him. I'm not a fan - just looking I tried looking at Romney again this past year and it gave me a headache. The things he has said to get the Republican nomination have really turned me off. I really don't know where he will stand but my guess from the gestalt that I get about him is that he will side with nutty part of the party now that he is their guy and they are in bed together. And I think he will take us back to the policies that got us in this mess to begin with. but I expected great things out of Obama. I think a lot of us did. I think that he could have done more if he wasn't presented with the economy falling off of a cliff when he was just getting started. Maybe if he had some more administrative experience he would have done better. Maybe if he had some others heading up his economic team we may have been in a different spot right now. But looking at what is going on in Europe right now and comparing how we are doing here with regards to them, makes me think that he did ok given what he was handed. And probably the reason why the economy is in the shape it is in right now is related to the first 2 years of the term. The republicans have blocked anything significant from happening these last 2 years, making sure things are stagnant prior to the election. There is no compromise with the present group of republicans because they come from safe, gerrymandered districts. They can do and say anything short of a felony and still get elected. I think not having competitive districts is the biggest challenge for the country right now. I do think that Obama does not get enough credit for passing healthcare. I honestly think it was something that was going to be a bigger drag on the economy and now there is at least a chance to get a better handle on the whole thing. As my family gets older and as we start to have pre-existing conditions that would exclude us from getting reasonable insurance should I be able to retire at some point before I am 70, I see the wisdom in trying to get this done. Having a republican in the white house would make it easier to dismantle what has been put in place instead of trying to make it better or fix it. I would have had more respect for the republicans if they had tried to amend the health care act instead of trying to get rid of it, and Romney has said he is in their camp. But putting all that aside, I think the biggest reason for staying with Obama is the Supreme Court. Just remember who the picked those who gave us Citizens United, Thomas and Alito. Do you really want a more conservative court that what we already have? A court that stands more for corporations than for real people? If you like the present court, then pick Romney. He will make sure it stays this way for the next 20-30 years. If you want a chance for the court to be more fair in how it decides things, then right now anything not republican should be who you pick. JMO though. Reasonable people can disagree. Neal

" I expected great things out of Obama." I didn't. I've been disappointed before, by Bill Clinton. I hoped for great things, but wasn't surprised when they didn't happen, especially given the current (R) opposition and conditions following W. Given those conditions, Obama would have needed to be a genius far surpassing FDR or TR. To "expect" great things is naive and unfair.

Mitt Romney (R-MA) were ordered not to photograph the two men together, according to Think Progress. Romney supporters and handlers fear that photos of the candidate with Cheney or former President George W. Bush could damage the former governor’s chances against President Barack Obama in November. The LA Times said, “The legacy of Bush’s administration — the Iraq war, the increase in the federal debt burden and the nation’s spiral into recession at the end of 2008 — cast a long shadow over the last presidential contest and was a major factor in John McCain’s loss to Barack Obama.” The two-part fundraiser was held a country club near Jackson Hole, Wyoming and at Cheney’s home. Guests offered up $1,000 each to attend, $10,000 for a photo with Romney and $30,000 to go on to Cheney’s house from the club and eat dinner with Cheney and Romney. The Times reported that a pool of reporters were allowed to attend the country club reception, but the dinner was off-limits to press. It was at the club that reporters were informed of the embargo on photos of Romney with Vice President Cheney. The event was expected to raise more than $4 million for the Romney coffers.
