Well, Joe ... I'm sorry to see you miss out on all this 'fun'!

Here's an interesting opinion from 'the press'

at URL:

www3.zdnet.com

Here's a clipped portion of the story:

"Under Schmidt, they seem to finally have a better sense of what's achievable, and they match that up to what we can do. It's a much better situation. And I've got a lot more confidence that they can actually pull through."

Schmidt reworked the company's incentive policy in a sensible way that rewarded salesmen for not stuffing the channel. Novell could then hang tough in negotiations with distributors who found themselves in need of new product (Novell halted delivery of new supplies in the third quarter.)

Novell's brass also tapped its collective noodle to take advantage of cyber delivery and master licensing programs. The company derived more than 40 percent of its sales in the quarter from so-called "on-box sources."

So is everything hunky-dory, and Eric Schmidt gets our nomination for Executive of the Year?

Not just yet.

Novell's investors are still waiting for their ship to come in. The stock, trading in the low 20s in 1995, hasn't even come close to that neighborhood since. And although the price of its shares have climbed up slightly from a summer drop below $7, Novell still remains a lame investment.

End of story clipping.

BPR comments ... maybe Eric is getting some hints about what his next objective should be ... shake the 'lame investment' label would be a good one, maybe?

Have a good Looonngg Weekend!
