I have not had a problem with the political threads. I don't post that often, and the forums that are weird I don't post to at all. I don't have a problem with people who have strong political opinions, and I am perfectly capable of defending myself.

While I happen to be a Democrat, I was a Republican for forty years. I had a good friend, now deceased, who was Chairman of the Republican Party for awhile in Connecticut many years ago. Back then we referred to politics as "our crooks versus their crooks", kind of like the old Spy vs. Spy comic books.

Today everyone seems to take politics personally, which has taken most of the fun out of it and has lowered the quality of the discourse. I guess I am just getting old and out of touch with how things are done today.

To be fair, we on the left had some pretty crazy Bush haters. I mean I couldn't stand Bush- but I didn't think he caused 9/11. or was going to stage a coup, etc. And we did have some folks that far up the conspiracy vortex. Now that special space is occupied by the crazed wingnut Obama haters. Cracks me up how similar the wings of the left and right are. They really have so much in common- like insanity.
