Most of my liberal friends raised thoughtful compassionate kids. And I think it has to do with parents constantly emphasizing learning and kindness and their social responsibility. Too many of my conservative friends did not emphasize eduction (and are sort of defensive about it) and many of their kids are suffering from lack of education to be blunt. In my office alone most of the conservative girls got pregnant (two last year - 18) and married right out of high school to the first guy to come aong, more or less. And I am sure the marriages will not last. And I know the parents did not set an example, or really encourage learning or continuing education for the kids. No one discusses ideas in my office. I am sort of in the closet being a liberal. I don't discuss anything there. The other thing I have noticed over the years is that liberals tend to discuss ideas matter of factly, but my conservative friends don't do that. They discuss their lives, but seldom present sophisticated ideas? Like the social contract.
