Hi, Kai-Uwe. Phone service is also very expensive in Finland. However, Finland has the single highest per-capita ratio of internet connected people in the world. Also, they are VERY big into cell phones, as is the rest of Europe. The effect of this is that it actually makes $ sense for some people (students, for example, and young professionals) to have a cell phone, but not regular land-line telephone service. Students and young professionals often have free internet access at the University or at work. My brother is in Helsinki for a one-year post-doctorate research project at HUT, this is where I come by this info.
