Hi, Duane....here is an interest site if you want to learn about CDMA and Wireless Local Loop:

cdg.org

Actually the CDMA Development Group maintains an amazing WEB site on educating the curious about the technology and its potential. The site currently contains a headlined article (actually a speech compilation) by a Qualcomm officer named Andrew Viterbi who did an excellent job in discussing in layman's terms on the distinction between IS-95 (better & cheaper now) and W-CDMA (harder to implement and not backward compatible to existing CDMA installations). I also for the first time learned about how CDMA could be applied to data transfer, which is my current interest.

I am amazed that the whole Wireless Local Loop concept hasn't caught greater fire. It just seems a lot more logical to upgrade ordinary household's internet bandwidth through the air than tearing up neighborhoods and stitching cable and fiber lines thru the last 50 meters into the household. I think it's a matter of time that wireless internet connectivity would be cheaper than landlines. It is definitely simpler and cleaner.

It would seem that the current rage about cable modems (both the use of them and the investment in companies that make them and provide the infrastructure) is transient. Why not wireless modems? Indeed, it's possible that a couple years from now virtually all computing device sold would come w/ wireless data communication capability by default.
