You are right they took the taxes right now or wanted to know why. Why was not acceptable except in extreme cases of medical emergency is the understanding I had. A dependent not covered by company medical plan that had an expensive medical operation you paid for and qualified for tax deduction. I often wondered if the person who explained that to me really meant it or was being sacastic? Oh, I forgot, I could pay the minimum of 25% of the gain and pay the balance at tax time then. Don't know if that is still possible.
