I tend to pay for performance... not always the same thing.. which is why it is hard to pigeon hole 'brains' IMO although it seems there is no end at attempting to do so..

lots pay for the promise of performance... that often goes awry :o)

Getting ready to start on my ski tuning work area.. need to be ready in case we get winter this year..

Intelligent people always overrate brains. Being intelligent is an ability, but not everybody puts their abilities to use.

There are plenty of intelligent people who are pulling espresso drinks or stocking bookstore shelves for a living.

Lawyers are a good example. The highest paid are not necessarily the most intelligent. They have many other qualities that differentiate them from the rest. Ambition, drive, the ability to work with others, leadership, vision, temperament, character.

The smartest lawyer I know, who is very well recognized by his peers as the smartest man in just about any room he is in, scrambles for cases. I could not tell you why. He admits he does not make as much as a federal bankruptcy judge, which is $151,984 per year.

For example, are all lawyers paid the same price?
