But a progressive system of taxation is a good way to run a country in the 21st Century.
No it isn't. It's too vulnerable to fluctuations in the economy. It makes tax breaks favor the rich. And it drives away the very rich people you want to tax.

My point is that liberals these days are doing everything they can to kill class mobility. Raising taxes on all income above $250K is perhaps the most efficient way to limit the number of people joining the millionaires club.

But it's a poor way to raise money for all of the government programs you want to support.

Best way to raise tax dollars is to raise the trust in government. Work with businesses, not against. Put the emphasis on quality of public services, not quantity. There's a reason why trust in government is at an all-time-low, and it's not because of those "evil Republicans."
