It's possible that some may want to change their vote after they read the "value proposition". I plan to provide my views for those I want to vote on and could/may change my mind if I read other arguments that present a better risk/reward profile.

It's all about the total annualized return and many of the proposed candidate stocks provided have no return estimates other than "I think this is a double" and/or this is a great investment or no estimate at all.

With my picks & comment I at least try to present a reasonable return expectation and provide my reasons why. I will be wrong and have been wrong before but I do try to provide some expectations for my return estimates. That's also why I like those dividend payers as for me, this is money in the bank.

FWIW, two separate voting periods may work (1) election of nominees and (2) final vote would provide an easy means for one to change a vote and/or lobby for votes based on written value propositions and/or comparing to candidate stocks in the same sector. Just some more ideas to consider.

"I was suggesting that we wait until we have a final list of candidates and then vote. But if you and/or others feel we should let the voting process continue since its already started, that's ok."

Personally, I don't see why we cannot let the voting continue as it has been going so far.
No one has expressed a problem with that.

All that we need to stress with the members, on an ongoing basis from now onwards, is the fact that we will not accept ANY MORE stock recommendations AFTER the 31st. July 2012.

Then from the 1st. August onwards we will still be accepting votes for that final list of stocks as at the close on 31 July 2012.

I suggest we then decide, sometime in the latter part of August (or now if you like), when the VOTING for stocks will close and the final list of 10 stocks, for both the SI Portfolio and the Buffett Portfolio, will be put together based on Rules 1, 3, 4 and 7.
