I'm using NT now but for IE4 you would want to back up your "favorites" folder. For NT and '95 may be the same I don't know, it's
located at C:WINNT\Profiles\Favorites - then below the favorites folder are more folders, like Channels, Links etc. I also have imported (Netscape) bookmarks there but in your case I think you would just need to backup your favorites folder and that will contain your bookmarks.
