Personal responsibility, whether for achievement or failure, is a threat to the whole vision of the left, and a threat the left goes all-out to combat, using rhetoric uninhibited by reality.

At a time when a small fraction of high-income taxpayers pay the vast majority of all the taxes collected, it is sheer chutzpah to depict high-income earners as somehow being subsidized by "the rest of us," whether in paying for the building of roads or the educating of the young.

Trashing Achievements

By Thomas Sowell - July 20, 2012
There was a time, within living memory, when the achievements of others were not only admired but were often taken as an inspiration for imitation of the same qualities that had served these achievers well, even if we were not in the same field of endeavor and were not expecting to achieve on the same scale.

I am sorry Wharf the argument falls apart. What she forgets is that everybody including the guy who built the factory pays for the roads. Her position is the equivelent of saying I bought insurance and had a huge claim which was not covered by my premiums, so I should be thankful to the insurance company for paying my claim.

She also acts like the rich pay nothing. They pay a disproportionate share of the taxes now. Neither, she nor any liberal I have heard defines what the fair share is. The libs will not answer that question. If we repeal the Bush tax cuts, we will pay for a few days government spending, if they do not cause a reduction in revenues. So my view is that it is all about Obama creating class warfare, not really about more revenue.

It is crazy.
