wall, actaully dell parroted me and a few other economist..
i was mentioning it months ago before this was even an issue..
and I mentioned it over and over and over again bec. I was called an absolute idiot with my theory on the cost benefits of this situation.......
now michael dell mentions it and the dell heads and cpq heads
say yes.."it true"

actually, it's a no brainer...
in my 16+ yrs in the pc industry..this has happened numerous times and every time it's resulted in massive profits for the US pc industry
becasue the relationship of components in pc to the region they come from.
In fact, think about it..the yen was 300 to 1 when I was in Japan for the first time ..1976.
as the yen continue to strengthen they predcited that the USA would
be wiped off the face of the earth bec. it would be able to compete
since Japan could sell for cheaper....well..the exact opposite happened.. at one time it got to 80+ to 1$
Yep..when months ago I started talking about this ..no one beleived.
But, it's not rocket sceintist mat'l..it's been happening for 2 decades and benefiting the US for two decades.

Stephen,

Thanks for the input. I agree with you and I do believe that the big boys are becomimg more aware of their ability to make money by pushing the market one way or another. What worries me is that these guys will start getting togather.

Steve.

Cricket,

No DELL split that I know of. Would'nt one be nice before the 1st of Jan.? That could make for some interesting effects.
