Don't know Marvin,

Haven't seen any of her post recently. She said something about getting some info about COMDEX and Oracle last week.

Thoughts on INS -

It appears that the INS will take over all fingerprinting on December 3, 1997. We currently believe that the INS has taken delivery of approximately 100 TP600's and will shortly issue the RFP for another 300 more tenprinters. It is our hope that Identix wins this RFP because of the existing system is 100% Identix and there isn't a lot of time to try to integrate other vendor's machines into the system.

To process the fingerprints the INS is setting up Application Support Centers and mobile vans equipped with TP600's. The INS is also registering 250 law enforcement agencies (LEAs) as fingerprint sites.

The operative questions are now:
Do these LEAs currently have TP600's or is the INS going to try to incorporate other vendor tenprinters? Does registering the 250 LEAs take some of the pressure off the INS to conduct its RFP in a very short time frame, thereby delaying receipt of the order for the additional 300 tenprinters?

Partial answer - Unless the INS is giving TP600s to the LEAs in return for performing INS processing services the LEAs would probably not be too excited about performing the processing duties indefinitely. This is not police work. Therefore it distracts them from their primary purpose. I still believe that the 300 tenprinter order will be filled before 6/30/98 and definitely before the fiscal year ends on 9/30/98. The INS has the funds appropriated. The question is "Who gets the order and when?"

Hi guys, I'm here!! Unfortunately, the report from my coworkers who attended comdex was a big ZERO! They didn't see anything about IDX at the show. Two biometric technologies received comdex awards - where was IDX????? I truly believe in their technology. My concern (this should generate some discussion..) is that I perceive some complacency.

Hope you're not eating too much today!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm at work - ugh!!
