I do remember Dave Lewis. He was there the first two years I worked there. He left around 1970 to become CEO of General Dynamics. Rumor had it he was frustrated because he did not have complete autonomy in running the company. J S McDonnell, the company founder, was still there and he was the ultimate authority.

In the mid 80's a fitness center was installed on campus. It was comprised of Nautilus equipment, free weights and aerobic equipment. There was always an instructor on duty. You had to take an orientation on the Nautilus equipment. One day I was down there and the instructor was completing the orientation with 2 engineers if their 50's. He said: "Do you understand this after all it is not rocket science." The engineer said; "We work for the McDonnell Douglas Astronautics company. Our business is rocket science"

I did not works for McDonnell Aircraft company (MCAIR). I worked for a different component that provided computer services for the corporation and commercial clients. I do remember when MCAIR had the Quality circles program. It seemed like there was something like it going on every year. I was a department manager at the time. On day while a group of us got together for lunch, we decided to have some fun. We made up a fictitious program and started asking people about it. We called it the Strategic Inferstructure Analysis project. We ask different people if they had heard about it. One person said he thought so and so was on to project and we should check with him.

I believe the president of Mcair beck then was Bill Ross. When he retired John Capalupo succeeded him.
