>>has gone from being the environmentally most progressive industrial nation to the most retarded one?<<

What is your basis for this assessment? Here in southern California the air is cleaner than it was 20 years ago, I consider that progress, what do consider that? Cars are 95 percent cleaner than they were 20 years ago, I consider that revolutionary progress, what do consider that? I get twice the fuel milage that I did twenty years ago, I consider that progress, and you? Our waters are getting cleaner, we have many recycling programs, anyone that looks out the window can see that we are making progress. And the investment in fuel cell technology, what do you consider that? It will have a combined effect of conserving fuel and reducing C02. Seams impressive to me. If the meeting were to mean something then it should not be a selected few that should consider possible consequences of global warming. The best solution would be for undeveloped nations to develope environmentally sensitive solutions with the benefit of our technology but that does not seam to be happening.

You are proving my point that this climate meeting is not intended to solve any real problems. Indicating that someones eating habits have something to do with global warming is stretching it a bit. If I had my way I don't think any one should eat fish or meat but I do not believe that I should dictate to anyone else what they should eat. I believe that the arrogance of man and his insensitivity to creatures that have no self defense is reprehensible. I do believe that we should attack problems head on and not use this issue to implement someones non related agendas.

>How come the "greatest nation on earth" has gone from being the environmentally most progressive industrial nation to the most retarded one?<
Too many lawyers, too much money to educate the uneducatable.

nic; We need cow emission controls, like catalytic converters on both ends(over 50% of cow methane comes out in the breath as it gets into the cows blood stream and is exhaled by gas exchange in the lungs).

As they say profits are not political, they do not care who they buy.
And it is bought votes by lobby groups that drive this situation.
Why the USA does not have a democracy in Congress is beyond me. Can you imagine having everyone see how you voted at the next election, and if you dod not vote the way you were told to do you would be ostracised??
Why is there no secret ballot in Congress, and indeed in all parliamentary situations? As it sits this does not allow them to act properly, they must always dance to the tune of their masters. I do not want them to dance to a lobbyists tune, but to act as I elected them to do.
Remove that public vote and there would soon be solutions in hand to many problems. Vote trading would end.
