>giving back is what I was taught growing up. I thought it was part of the Judeo Christian ethos.

I thought it was just part of being a good person! Little did I know. Curse my kindergarten teachers!

>> You ask the million dollar question............I don't get it. Your experience has been my experience.........giving back is what I was taught growing up.

There is a huge difference between "giving back" versus having your money forcibly taken from you against your will.

Hypocrite Warren Buffet put it best: I fee the Gates Foundation can allocate my wealth better than the government can.

If Buffett chooses to allow the charity of his choice to have his money rather than the federal government, why should not I make the same choice?

And if he recognizes the government is a poor allocater of resources, why does he think WE should allow the government to have one NICKEL of our money more than is required for essential, legitimate functions?

BTW don't bother responding to these rhetorical questions. You haven't posted a cogent remark here in years.
