"You know very well that the system can't function based on voluntary taxation."

I'm currently being taxed. If you want to pay more.....be my guest.

>>> You know very well that the system can't function based on voluntary taxation. It's an incredibly inane argument.

SilentZ makes another idiotic statement. The assessment of taxes in the US is voluntary, and the Supreme Court in Flora v. United States, 362 U.S. 145, 176 (1960), determined as much "[o]ur system of taxation is based upon voluntary assessment and payment, not upon distraint."

But the point is that anyone who volunteers to do so can simply pay an extra billion or two to the IRS -- they'll take it. This includes Buffett and Gates and the rest of them.

>>> so the government is starved of revenue.

It is utterly stupid to claim our government is "starved of revenue". They're starved of discipline and starved of the will to restrain the growth of government until the entire operation collapses.

Z,
You know very well that the system can't function based on voluntary taxation.
The "voluntary" part of taxation is done with your feet.

If you don't believe me, let's watch France tax their millionaires out of the country.

That's no reason for liberals to not pay the extra taxes they claim to want to.
