We've had several fatal bike accidents in my area in recent years. This is farm country with 50 mph roads with little or no shoulders. These bike riders get out on country roads, going through the hilly Palouse at 5-10 miles an hour, and every now and then someone comes along and clips them. In a contest between a 3,000 lb truck and a 30 lb bike and 120 lb woman, who's gonna come out unhurt?

Yet, they insist on wobbling along in the center of the lane, often on hills and blind curves, based on having an equal right to the road. Not smart, IMO.

BTW, NWCN has a segment on now about bike riders in Seattle who are wearing helmet cams to document if hey are cutoff by a car. Lot of good that helmet cam is going to do you if you get beaned from behind because you're in the middle of the lane of a 45 mph street going 10 mph.
