Koan, sorry about this late reply. The political thing is 'elementary'. The 'free thinkers' are on the so- called 'Left'. Liberalism by it's very definition lends itself to the resulting unlimitless debate...all good. No one is 'shot'. When the debate is within the confines of the 'Right', it is narrowly & 'loudly' defined by today's conservative “doctrinaires”, which of course, appeals to the confused mass of the anti- government & ignorant humanity in this country. What I say to you is that the Conservatives of the pre- Reagan years were loathe to attack the very basis of government that got us to what we were 200 years after the birth of our nation. They were the basis of sound government balance...good debate. The whole context of what Conservatism today is a fairly new animal, one stinking in breath with sharpened teeth...one that eats their own of the Republican Party if they don't play hard right. They only know how to win elections...not govern our country. I am implying most Americans are ignorant & politically stupid, willing to be lead around through the rings in their noses. Look at the asshole Patriot Act as an example of willingly forfeited freedoms. Kind regards...John
