And this practice raises expectations by politicians that they can routinely manipulate the press to their advantage. That makes the job of real journalists - independent reporters faithful to their craft - even more difficult, because they will be shut out from access. I seem to recall something like, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press....." When liberals scream, lying through their teeth, that their designs on the various Constitutional amendments aren't really anti-America, they're always found to be so. These same proud liberal "journalists" willingly allow the erosion of their First Amendment rights. No, there is no law proposed to restrict their voices, these effete "professionals" are voluntarily suspending their own free press rights. It appears that the air in the Fourth Estate balloon is petering out and that a new term, the "Fifth Estate," a government-controlled press, is needed to describe these once proud sycophants. This leads one to wonder if these willing participants, witnessing the witting demise of their own rights, can now see how the rights of other Americans are slowly eroded away by leftist government. Can they now see that the liberal politicians they advocate for can come back and bite them in the ass to the detriment of all? Can they now see what Second Amendment supporters have been saying all along about erosion of rights? Will they make the connection? Being an unprincipled, brain-washed elistist lot, I doubt it.
