If a corporation is a "person" with rights of free speech, why not nominate such a "person" for the office of Vice-President? The humerous post exposes how ridiculous the reasoning is in Citizens United. you woulda thought that they covered this in law school....I guess not. So let me help you out a bit. A corporation isn't a person. I corporation is a legal entity. It can be taxed. It can enter into legal contracts. It however cannot breathe, eat, drink, copulate, defecate, urinate or otherwise have biologic functions. It is however owned by humans.....people, persons, homo sapiens. Since the individuals who own the corporation have rights as documented and protected by the US Constitution, those rights extend to the corporation. There are many corporations that are owned by a single individual. Doctors and Actors incorporate frequently. If Will Smith decides to voice his political opinion or make a political donation in his name, should he be prohibited because he is also a corporation? If the band "The Eagles" wants to make a political donation in the name of the band (a corporation), should they be prohibited from doing so just because they formed a corporation? You can't restrict the rights of a corporation without restricting the rights of individuals. Put another way, obama would lose all of his hollywood money if corporations aren't allowed to give political donations.
