We used to collect rain water in a barrel to wash our hair. Nothing like it. I've never had softer hair than when we washed our hair with that rain water. Every Thursday night, my sister and I would wash and set our hair with pin curls - just amazing bouncy curly hair. Haven't seen it today because it's all hair sprayed. We didn't have hair dryers (except at the hair salon) back then so you had to start early on Thursday night. Do they still have those hair dryers in the salons? I haven't seen any in the cheap places I go.
