Ours had a large white cover which we lifted over it and used it as a transfer place for whatever we were doing in the kitchen at that time. When we moved from her home to our own quarters on the post, I probably just used a hand iron... oh thank you, Dear Lord, for the simple things, like being able to afford the cleaners :)
