Cannot remember ever calling him a criminal. I think the Mission West deal problems are what caused the BK at VLNC. I think he had other things in mind. I have most of my money in index related funds so am doing ok. I remember the crimes you mentioned. Tough way to go. I still think he may come up with a way to avoid lengthly litigation. We shall see. RDK.

He isn't the first and not the last Silicon Valley tycoon to smooze an influential analyst to help his stock.

Howz his health these days? He's up in age and I've wondered if V was a pet project of his that maybe he's not well and others took over and dropped support.

At least he got stuck with many millions of worthless shares
biz.yahoo.com

but... given he held most of the outstanding debt, it probably made more sense to try and keep it going with stock rather than more loans since he knew he'd get it in BK without any more loans... No upside to HIM loaning them any more money .... . so his stock purchases were like stock options on the company should it be successful. I looked at the money in the stock as little different than a stock option that would only expire in bk...

Sorry to hear you were holding so many bags... but like you said, good reason to be diversified!
