Phils have come from behind four games in a row for 4 walk-off victories, the first time in their history: BEFORE that, they had the worst , victories after being behind going into the 8th--we were an UFB! 0 wins and 42 defeats.
Ever since Howard became a Philly they were a dangerous come from behind team---with him hurt, they least dangerous come behind team in the MLB(that SHOCKING 0-42)
We can NOT underestimate the psychological aspect of Baseball---Howard just needs be on field, people need realize his BEAMER personality lights up a team.

Haels asked Amaro, would his contract hurt the him for the future and Amaro said know, we can handle it.
One, i think Comcast are COMMITTED to competing with Yanks in the dollar game.
Everybody thinks Phils MUST slash salary next year to avoid painful "Luxury Tax"--well Yanks don't--i think Phils will try to lower salary outlay, but Comcast considers keeping the stadium filled piriority #1---Phils, via TV income and Stadium Income and Merchandise Income, are on the three most making teams in Baseball.
i guess you read this : "
When he retires, Cole Hamels plans to get away from baseball. He's got kids to raise and businesses to run and life to live. That doesn't preclude him from playing fantasy GM now and again, constructing in his mind the sort of team he would build were he in charge.

Cole Hamels carries an 11-4 record with a 3.23 ERA into Friday's start. (US Presswire …He knows one thing: There's no way he'd ever give a pitcher the six-year, $144 million contract the Philadelphia Phillies minted him Wednesday.

"I would give big money, but not for long years," Hamels said during a late-May conversation about the frailty of pitchers. "I'd only give three or four years, but I'd give 'em $25 or $30 million."

And were a team to have offered him that?

"I'd laugh," Hamels said. "Just because that's the way the market's gone."

: Then Passan writes "That never stops the Phillies, who have turned into the Yankees of the National League with their propensity to spend massive sums on aging players."

Jerry, we lead the MLB with the highest presence of THEIR fans in parks all across the U.S.! Better than Red Sox better than Yankees.

But the management KNOW they MUST build farm system also--and now, for first time, teams can trade draft positions, like in football---it will be rough go-but ComCast knows, we have the fan base to make this a powerful franchise--but like Yankees, they know they can do this only by near always being a top contender.

i did a little math--Howard numbers for 10 games(i don't count the two games he was only ph) He would have 4times16 HRS-that's 52HRs and 9 times 16 RBIs, that is 144(a near typical year for Howard, that 144) So he is batting like .217--i don't care:)

Marlins have SUCKERED their fans(again), they just had another Fire Sale after paying big bucks this winter.

It seems to be a new law of "physics", after all-star break watch the Mets COLLAPSE. Record in last 12 games before yesterday, was 1-11.--regards Phils future--we will see--this is a juggling act---the management has money to play---it's tricky---you never know--Comcast, just stay out of stock market---look at the Mets, they went very close to bankruptcy.Later, Max

Just ran across this " Howard, who missed the first three months of the season while recovering from left Achilles surgery, is hitting .320 with four home runs and nine RBI in his last eight games" Now calculate that pace for 8 games to 162 games(VBG:) We get 80HRs and 180RBIs-LOL!.
Lee is the latest rumour to which Lee said "Yes i would be stunned if that happened, but it has happened before to me"

Do i think they should trade Lee? Not unless they got Texas Rangers or Washington Nationals two top prospects--i mean their #1 and #2 top prospects. But their Nats #1 prospect is a 3rd basemen that is labeled "can't miss", but Nats are solid solid solid at 3rd base, already---Werth should be back soon no?--Nats promised Werth they are committed to having great future and told them why---they were NOT lying
Why would Nats care--they have sworn they are shutting down Strasbourg for the season at 180-190 innings--and this insist they are serious.
i would trade Lee to Nats for their 3rd basemese "can't miss" prospect AND Relief Pitcher Drew Storen--who is just returned from an injury.
