>>(i) let us take it as a self-evident "given" that a nation with a higher median wealth can afford more mistakes over a longer time than a state w/ a lower median wealth<<

I think Team USA has proven over the years that it can afford a lot of mistakes... :o)

I drove 620Km Curitiba to Araraquara. Every city an industrial area and in between green after green fields.

Smell of pulp and paper mills.

Smells of Fields plowed and fertilized

A truck carrying hogs That was an aroma!!

Cargill and Bunge's Soya smashing

Cows smell actually manure smell

Castrolandia feed stock mills.

Heineken brewery.

I stop to stretch the legs and though how rich we are...

Here my friendf is building a HVDC substation his son is helping build in Madeira River some 2.800 Km away.

I can see Cutrale steam coming up from his apt here down town and the air smells of Vitamin C tablet as Cutrale smahes oranges to make frozen orange juice.

Here comes 30% of the world's frozen O.J.

As I drink my Heineken I can relax. We are rich beyond belief!!!!
