It is correct. "supports, at most, minimal and gradual change in society." = "reluctant to change." What I find most amusing is that you take half of the sentence to support your own position and go on to claim that I "take a subset of what makes for conservatism not the whole thing, and then apply that to a much broader concept". The and to the part you left out is binding and provides the context for the support of traditional institutions. Those institutions are not supported out of context. They are supported as a means to slow down or prevent societal change. Why don't you read Bill's excellent post on the subject. ST
