"Do you want a democratic country or one run by corporations?
"

I want a free country. It matters not to me whether the tyrants are corporations or my fellow citizens.

An individual can have a conscience, a country is as incapable as a corporation of having a conscience.

in a democracy the people are the government, and people have a conscience.

Your one person out of over 300million. One voter out of maybe 200 million. And you have a choice once every 4 years between 2 presidential candidates. If you turn to congress instead, well there are far fewer voters in your state or your congressional district but you only get to vote for one representative and two senators out of 535 people in congress. The chances that your vote will make the difference for any of them is miniscule. The chances that even if your vote makes the difference that it will get you the policy combination you want will also normally be small.

You have much more influence over businesses than you do over who become president.
