If you define freedom and the ability to do whatever you want, regardless of other people's rights or major practical issues, then its not democracy that requires giving up some freedom, its government of any kind.

If you define freedom, as being limited to not harming others or abusing their rights, then democracy doesn't require giving up freedom.

In any case what your pushing isn't giving up some freedom in order to get or preserve other freedom, or to preserve democracy. Its giving up freedom in order to give up freedom without any other significant result, or its giving up freedom in order to bash and/or control those you don't like much.

"Democracy requires giving up some freedom to get some freedom. Think of how it works"

Give an example if you can.
