Samsung have also posted a press statement revealing the company’s financial results for Q2 2012. Their smartphone division worked flawlessly, as over 50 million smartphones were shipped. What is even more important is that the South Korea-based company managed to sell over 10 million Samsung Galaxy S3 units in less than two months. Samsung also took advantage from the late launch of the iPhone 5 / the new iPhone which will reportedly hit the market on September 21st. The analysts are estimating that Samsung’s shipments in Q3 will drop because of the summer break and because of an anemic month of August in terms of sales. In late September or early Q4 2012 the iPhone 5 will hit the stores and the battle on the smartphone segment will heat up. In Q2 2012 Samsung Electronics had a revenue growth of 21% compared to the same time frame of the last year, while their profit raised 79% compared to Q2 2011, reaching $5.9 million. The Consumer Electronics and IT&Mobile Divisions had a year-over-year growth of 37%. Samsung Mobile Communications registered an increase in revenue of 75% compared to the same time frame of 2011. Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note were the top-selling smartphones of the South Korean company; who would have though that the 5.3-inch phablet will be so successful? In contradiction with analysts’ forecasts, Samsung is hoping that Q3 2012 will also bring an increase, based on tablet and smartphone shippments, as Samsung Galaxy S3's sales are currently skyrocketing. The officials of the world’s biggest smartphone vendor said they are estimating that even more LTE and low budget smartphones will be sold in Q3 2012. Samsung is one of the few phone makers that are still doing fine on the market. Then comes Apple. The rest of the phone manufacturers are either losing money or barely stay at the surface, and I am thinking of Motorola, Sony, Nokia and RIM. ### - Eric -
