I'm not really trashing our government, certainly not in a relative sense. It relative position may not be as good as it was in the past, but its still pretty solid. The problem is that it tries to do too much. That would be problematic even for an idealized perfect government, not just with our relatively pretty good government. The USA has become the enemy. I didn't even say the government is the enemy, and the USA isn't the government.
