You can take the stand. Just know in advance you would lose a lawsuit.

well, first of all, what bill said...be prepared to be sued and lose

plus, where do you stop the moralizing 'stands'?

do you not serve unmarried co-habitating couples? divorcees on their 4th marriage? you'd quickly be out business

JBC asked:
Really? So when exactly do we take a stand against immoral behavior?
Well, let's ponder that question:

Maybe when they want to do away with incest laws and make it legal to marry siblings, etc.?

Maybe at poligamy?

Or could it be as they try to de-criminalize child porn and molestation?

How about when they try to mainstream bestiality?

I hope no one thinks that when sodomites and lesbians are given the title "marriage" that will be the bottom.

Get over it J.B.C.! From now on, people who speak about their belief that marriage is between one man and one woman should expect to be treated like German Jews in 1939 Germany.

no matter what your feelings are about same sex marriage, the fact is that the 'gays have won'

Really? So when exactly do we take a stand against immoral behavior?

We need to get over ourselves on a lot of this GLBTxyz issue. Society has evolved - whether we like it or not.

I went to University at a Liberal Arts college with lot's of Gays back in the 70's (before taking Computer Science to actually get a job that paid money :-).

I hate discrimination, but I also hate all the in your face crowd and the Act UP folks. It so so immature and speaks to a lot of these folks having real Daddy issues.

I defuse a lot of conversations in this area, by stating I think of myself as a true conservative - I don't think the Government has any place in the bedroom. And I don't want to know what anyone is doing there - some parts of life should be private.

Marriage is a function society borrowed from religion and was originally centered on protecting children and dependent mothers. As the son of a stay at home Mom widowed at 36 with 6 children aged 2 to 12 - I can attest that women and children do need protections.

To my 'in your face' gay friends - I say - do whatever you want for 'marriage' or civil unions - but make sure dependent spouses and children are protected and why rail against religious institutions? What's wrong with marriage being religious and civil unions being state sponsored? Why fixate on nomenclature?
