Government has no business in what is basically a "religious" ceremony. it was in colorado so it would have been some type of civil union.... the bi-racial and interfaith/divorce issue might be 'stretching it' ....but there were indeed laws against bi-racial marriages, and certain religions even now have prohibitions against interfaith weddings or having divorced weddings sanctioned... i agree with you that gov't has no business in sanctioning a religious ceremony but what if the gay couple were having a civil union and were throwing a party with a CAKE to celebrate it? who is this guy to refuse selling them a cake because of HIS religious belief? as much as see sharia being rightly decried here, it seems very strange to that the same people who are against islam imposing their religious views on unbelievers, cheer when a religious person (christian) chooses to impose his belief (by not doing business with someone who doesn't follow his religious belief)....what if a muslim had a business that would not allow women inside because of his 'beliefs' unless she wore veil? the gay couple isn't doing anything to trivialize christian sacrament, they weren't asking for a christian church wedding...... they were just asking for a cake....now i do realize there are some gays who would try to force christians to sanction their 'wedding' and i would oppose that as a violation of the christians first amendment as well... but you need to understand we live in a secular society, and there are religions of ALL STRIPES that are allowed to practice their faith , but imo, that should include the ability to discriminate against others in the public domain where people are just trying to conduct commerce
