civill rights issues are about as constitutional as you can get

Moral issues always trump everything.
This can only be true if there is some absolute, universal definition of morality. As an existentialist and athiest, you deny the existence of any such truth. Which is it, are you an existentialist or do you believe in some absolute truth? You cannot have it both ways.
