Okay, I agree countries are not working fine. What I meant was the answer is not to make them smaller. That implies the problem is "Big" rather than how they are designed.

By fashionable, I meant the cliche "It's broken". Glasses get broken. Cars break down. Old men's bodies, and minds, break down.

Another cliche currently driving me nuts is "To tell you the truth" and "To be honest". Do they mean that the rest of the time they are not telling me the truth or being honest? So each sentence should begin with "To be honest ... "

To tell you the truth, and to be honest, I'm sick of it. English is broken. Let's swap to Swahili, Esperanto, or break it up into smaller pieces.
