They say they care because it makes them feel like compassionate heroes without actually doing anything. But they don't really care. If they cared about the poor, they'd support school vouchers so poor kids stuck in failing schools could have a chance, at least, of getting a decent education - instead they support the unions.


This one thing should convince minorities and the poor that the democrats simply use them to line their own pockets. It's not just vouchers though. Charter schools are fought tooth and nail by the unions and they are the bright spot of education for underprivileged neighborhoods. Basically, democrats and the teacher's unions could give a crap about the kids. They just want to make sure they have their cushy deals at the expense of those kids.
