3Com Corp. in January will introduce two combination Ethernet LAN/modem PC Cards that come with an x2 56K-bps modem.

The 10BaseT and 10/100BaseT cards will be the first in a family of new PC Cards, according to officials at 3Com in Santa Clara, Calif.

The cards will be compatible with CardBus and include several ease-of-use features, the officials said.

Among those features will be a built-in XJack connector, which eliminates the need for a connecting cable, the officials said.

The cards will also include a speaker phone.

Xircom Inc. and Global Village Communication Inc. introduced Fast Ethernet/56K-bps modem combo cards earlier this year.
