Hi TimF; It's easy to flush the C-14 from your body before hibernation. Just eat food that's been made from oil which is so old that it has no radioactivity. And where do you get food made from oil? People grow it in greenhouses where they raise the CO2 level (and sometimes simultaneously heat in winter) by burning fossil fuels. Other than the DNA, the carbon in your body gets replaced around every 7 years or so. Your DNA would still be subject to damage but at least it wouldn't be catching radiation from the rest of you (which is a lot bigger). I wonder if that would help.

The worse problem is in the potassium. It's impossible to find a cheap source of non radioactive potassium and it's a really important element in the body.
