just finished participating in a phone in town hall meeting with my first term Republican Congressman Chris Gibson. Got in the que to ask him a question on his stance on the farm bill. After perhaps a 40 minute wait, some one else beat me to it with a soft ball farm bill question. Gibson responds how he is favor of the bill along with a few positive nickel and dime issues for the farmers......never pointing out that perhaps $800+BILLION out of the $900 BILLION 10 year bill is for FOOD STAMPS. This bill guarantees we spend $80+ BILLION a year on food stamps for the next 10 years. So......I re-que with the call screener to take issue with Gibson about the farm bill and am promptly informed that if there isn't time for my question, I should send the question to his web site. Waited an additional 30 minutes until the the call in ended without me being allowed to ask my question. So all questions are pre-screened and there is no give and take with the congressman. You ask a pre-screened question and then are cut off for Gibson to reply without any means to take issue with the answer. I've been watching Gibson's voting record and can only conclude he has been totally co-opted by Boehner, Cantor and the boys. If you could have heard his campaign speeches, you would have thought his middle name was Newt. I'm going to write him a scathing note and DEMAND a personal phone call reply. I'll keep everyone informed.
